2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Review

The Camaro itself is a name that is already familiar with all of us. After all, this car has been around for 50 years, according to Chevrolet’s math. Known as a legendary muscle car during the ‘60s, this nameplate was announced to be dead during the early 2000s, before it was resurrected a few years later. With the 2016 model year, a new generation Camaro was introduced with the nicest and best design so far. And now, we will talk about our predictions for the upcoming 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible.

2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Interior

The fully redesigned 2016 Camaro has made this sporty car faster, better equipped, and more fuel efficient. Available not only as a coupe, the convertible model is also offered. Thanks to those changes, Camaro now has reclaimed its place at the front of the horde in American muscle car segment, such as its more modern and cleaner interior styling. Apart from that, the interface is easier to understand and to use, as well as more user-friendly. Those surely are the things the new Chevrolet Camaro Convertible should never forget.

Even so, there are still some things that seem amiss, which is the reason why the ongoing Camaro models are still not the top of the class yet. The materials quality is one of them, considering how some dials and buttons feel and look cheap and flimsy. That’s one of the things we want the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible to improve. Apart from that, the cargo space is also a concern especially with the convertible model. The ongoing Camaro Convertible’s cargo space is only 7.1 cubes, lagging behind the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.

2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Engine

All Chevy Camaro body types, whether it is a coupe or convertible, are offered in the same trim level. This also means that the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible 2018 will have the same engine options with those of the Coupe lineup. Since we don’t expect any major changes for the 2018 models, the same engine lineup is what’s most likely to find under the hood. This means we may still see the 2.0L 275-hp 4-cylinderas the base engine for 1LT and 2LT trims, a 3.6L 335-hp V6 engine as optional for those trims, and the powerful 6.2L V8 engine for the 1SS and 2SS trim levels. Apart from that, the same 6-speed manual transmission may still be equipped as a standard specification, while the optional 8-speed automatic is also offered with paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel. Meanwhile, for the SS manual series, an automatic rev-matching on downshifts is offered.

2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible Price

It is still unknown when the upcoming Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will be released to the market, neither is the starting price. However, we can refer to the basic MSRP for the 2017 model year as our base. The 2017 Camaro 2SS Convertible, for instance, is set to sell at around $55,000.

Without a doubt, the current generation Camaro has made a new milestone, transforming this sporty ride into a best Camaro ever. And with the upcoming of 2018 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible, we never expect less. However, all we can do now is to wait and see.
